Day 22, Pacific Coast Highway

May 2, 2005: Long Beach. Sorry everyone, since I'm not particularly interested in celebrities and gossip, I didn't do the movie studio/celebrity sightseeing thing. Did a bit of that when I was in my 20s. Just a word to the non-Americans reading this: it's not in Hollywood, whose "golden age" was the 1920s and 30s. The actual city of Hollywood is seedy and run-down. These days, the studios and celebrities are located in other towns such as Burbank, but Burbank just doesn't have as catchy a name as Hollywood.

Anyhow. Finally got the project done and glad to be leaving L.A. ...Not many pictures were taken for this day; I had a lunch date with an Internet acquaintance in Long Beach -- a clean, attractive town lined with tall palm trees along Highway 1 (or Ocean Ave., as it's called in this town).

Hardly anyone was out on Long Beach's beaches this Monday morning. Hmmm. Was it too early? Was it because it was Monday? Was it too cold for Californians? (It felt warm to me, but then, I'm from Ohio...) Above: one of the offshore manmade island/oil rigs... complete with palm trees.

Here's a prettier picture, taken with the Nikon D70 (the above two were taken with an old Olympus 1.3 megapixel).
