Day 10

April 20, 2005: I dare any newcomer to drive through this town without stopping. If you can, you're either: 1). jaded beyond hope, or 2) a truck driver on a schedule. I decided to stay another day and hike the more famous points of attraction in the Red Rock area.

This is near the beginning of the trailhead near the Bell Rock entrance on Rt. 179. A series of trails in the Red Rock area meander for several miles around the rock formations, allowing hikers to actually hike up to the mountains themselves. The hikes generally take several hours if you're on foot, although mountain bikes and horseback are also allowed. (At this point I regretted not taking my trail bike).

Mounds of these daisy-like flowers were in bloom around much of the Red Rock area.
